The page above is the Main Page for the Arrears Calculator. Step 1 is to enter some Case information. This information will be used to complete the top sections of the worksheet pages. Begin by entering a name for both the custodial parent (parent with primary custody) and for the non-custodial parent.  After entering the names click the Insert link and the Case will be added to list of Cases.  You can now edit or Delete the Case by clicking the Edit Or Delete links. 

Once a Case has been created you may now proceed to Step 2 and enter orders related to this case.  Start by clicking the Select Link from the Case list above.  This tells the Calculator which Case you are working with and the Case associated with the Order you will be entering. 

Now enter Order information:
Account Enter any information that might describe what this order relates to.
Start Date This date is the first date the order will be charged and may or may not be the effective date of the order.
End Date If you order has an end date enter it here. You can leave this field blank and it will run charges up to Today.
Frequency This describes the period of the charging cycle, e.g. Monthly, Weekly, etc.
SemiDate1 If you selected a Semi-Monthly/Annual charging cycle then enter the first charge date.
SemiDate2 Semi-Monthly/Annual charging cycles require a second charge date to set up the charging cycle.
Amount Enter the monthly, weekly, etc. obligation amount.
Set Amount This is used only for judgment type orders where the court has set up a payment against a specific judgment amount.
Rate The interest rate pertaining to the period of the order.
CalcTo You can calculate interest to the End Of The Order or to Today.
Method Select Simple Interest which only calculates interest on the outstanding arrears balanvce or Compound interest which calculates interest on both the outstanding arrears AND interest balance.

After you have entered your order(s), Select one order you would like to work with and the payment window will appear.

In Step 3, enter payment or adjustment information pertaining to each order period.
The following fields are avaiable:
Trans Type This is the transaction type.  There are four type of transactions:
Payment - The amount paid on a giving date(s).
Charge - This is a Charge Adjustment ONLY to add or subract from the arrears balance for a specific day.
Int. Payment - Interest Payment Adjustment ONLY that is directed to only the interest balance.
Int. Charge - Interest Charge Adjustment ONLY to add or subtract fom the interest balance for a specific day.
Start Date The effective date of the payment. 
End Date If the payment occurs on the exact smae date each period then you can enter it once with a date range. 
This is the ending date of the date range.  This range could apply for example to wage withholdings.
(Note:  The date the payment is posted effects the interest calculation.  Therefore, if the payment is not received on exactly the same date during the period the interest figure will be incorrect.)
Frequency There are several selections for the frequency of the payment:
One Time - The transaction being entered only occured once and the start and end dates will be the same.
Monthly - The transaction occured each monhtly on a specific day.
Weekly - The transaction occured each week on a specific day.
BiWeekly - The transaction occured on two specific dates during a month.
Annual - The transaction occured once per year a specific day.
 
Amount The amount of the transaction.
Remarks Any notes related to the transaction.

Check boxes are located at the end of the transaction line.  Select one or more transactions to either delete all the selected transactions or to move them from one Order to another Order in this Case.
 

In Step 4 click the link for either the Standard Calculation or the link for the Custom Calculation.
